iPhone 3G Owners Griping About 3.0 Wi-Fi Glitch

Online forums have lit up with complaints from owners of the iPhone 3G who say that the handset's Wi-Fi function was disabled after they upgraded to the new OS 3.0.

Numerous users are claiming that after upgrading, their iPhone either can't maintain a Wi-Fi connection, or that it doesn't download data once it does connect, and they're asking Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) to fix the problem.

On June 18, a thread appeared on the Apple Support discussion forum titled "Strange Wi-Fi problem on iPhone 3G after 3.0 Update," which brought the issue to light.

The Loop has confirmed that if your iPhone has a broken screen and you take it to an Apple retail relocation, they have the capability to fix it on the spot. The machine (think big suction cup), which is located out of customer view in the back of the store, reportedly separates the iPhone from the screen, allowing a new one to be installed. Apple Issues Heat Advisory for iPhone 3G, 3GS

Whether anecdotal reports of iPhones overheating are true or not, Apple has taken them seriously enough to reveal the presence of a temperature warning screen for the iPhone 3G and 3GS.

AT&T and CDW pitch $199 3G netbooks

CDW, a computer retailer that targets the business, government and education markets, has begun offering 3G netbooks that are subsidized by AT&T. If you agree to a 2-year service plan, you can get an Acer or HP netbook for $199.

AT&T experimented with similar offers in the past, but the company is getting now much more aggressive in pushing 3G data services to customers. CDW is offering two netbook models with integrated HSDPA 3G chips for $199, if you sign a 2-year agreement with AT&T. READ FULL ARTICLE
