Still, there he is — upright and decidedly healthier-looking. Jobs had one more surprise for us all beyond his appearance: a belt. Will this spur a change to the official Steve Jobs getup, or is this just a one-time thing?

Either way, it's good to have you back, Steve.

Tech's biggest loser: Bill Gates

The collective net worth of the super rich on Forbes's annual list of the 400 wealthiest Americans fell by $300 billion over the past 12 months, and the tech sector spilled its share of the red ink.

Microsoft's Bill Gates lost the most — at least on paper. His net worth dropped from $57 to $50 billion, not enough, however, to keep him from topping the list for the 16th year in a row. Two current and former Microsofties were close behind: Paul Allen (No. 17) lost $4.5 billion and Steve Ballmer (No. 14) gave up $1.7 billion.

NY Times asks, Steve answers: Why no camera on the iPod touch and no stills on the nano?

Why doesn't the iPod nano take still pictures? Jobs says that the tiny teensy CMOS sensor in the nano isn't up to the quality standards needed for stills; it's too thin. "The sensors for doing a still camera... they are just way too thick to ever fit inside the Nano."
